What We Believe

What We Believe

Together we are learning to journey and adventure with Jesus, our Lord and Saviour:

  • we rejoice that God the Father loves the world;
  • we seek to be empowered by God the Holy Spirit;
  • we try to care for each other and those around us;
  • we commit to proclaiming God the Son’s sacrifice on the cross for the forgiveness of wrongdoing;
  • we find refreshment in worshipping and praying to God – Father, Son and Holy Spirit;
  • we base our faith and conduct on the Bible, which we believe to be the written word of God.

As a Baptist church, we seek to put into practice Jesus’ great commission in Matthew chapter 28 –

“All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

In seeking to make and nurture fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ, we are active members of the Baptist Union of Great Britain and its three-part Declaration of Principle.

We are also members of the Evangelical Alliance whose Basis of Faith is here.

We also belong to the Southern Counties Baptist Association and to Churches Together in the Dorchester Area. We are supporters of BMS World Mission, Christian Aid and Tearfund as well as many other Christian enterprises.
